A PFR delegation led by PFR Board Chairman A.V. Drozdov participated in the following ISSA meetings in Geneva in the period from January 15 till 17, 2013:
1) The 106th meeting of the ISSA Bureau (as a full member of the executive body);
2) The Third Meeting of the BRICS Executive Committee;
3) The Second Meeting of the ISSA Nominating/Election Committee (as a Committee member).
BRICS
Important decisions were made at the meeting of the BRICS Executive Committee.
PFR Board Chairman A.V. Drozdov was elected as the BRICS Executive Committee Chairman.
The agenda had the following items: a BRICS report (social security in member countries); the BRICS website; fulfillment of three areas of the BRICS project: broadening of the social security system, information and communication technologies, and customer services.
It was decided to draw up a final project report and to present it at the World Social Security Forum in Doha in 2013.
Committee members agreed to cooperate not only in the BRICS format but also on a bilateral basis, by the example of Russia and China (a bilateral meeting was planned to be held in Moscow in 2012).
ISSA Bureau
The 106th meeting of the ISSA Bureau discussed Association reports, program and budget for the upcoming period of 2014-2016, preparations for the World Social Security Forum in Doha (in November 2013), alternations in the Association’s linguistic policy, and ILO-ISSA cooperation.
Alternations in the ISSA linguistic policy and the prospective three-year period were high on the agenda. Russian is not an official (working) language of the Association, which reduces the level and possibility of involvement of Russian representatives in ISSA events.
Being a full member, the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation proposed at the 105th meeting of the ISSA Bureau to change the linguistic policy consistent with the contemporary realities.
The General Secretariat presented for consideration and approval of the Bureau members proposals on the Russian language’s status of a working language of international conferences and seminars with due account of the program and the 2014-2016 budget. The Bureau members unanimously supported the proposal.
The ISSA Nominating/Election Committee
The Second Meeting of the ISSA Nominating/Election Committee discussed the procedure of preparations and holding of elections of the president, the treasurer and members of the ISSA Audit Commission at the World Social Security Forum in Doha in 2013. Being a Committee member, PFR Board Chairman A.V. Drozdov proposed adjustments to ISSA electoral procedure documents. The proposals were backed by Committee members.
