Maternity capital has helped 4.5 million Russian families improve their living conditions. As many as 2.9 million families repaid their mortgage loans with maternity capital either fully or partially, and another 1.6 million families had their homes improved without loans.
Improvement of living conditions is the most popular use of maternity capital in Russia; almost 92% of the applicants spent the funds on a better home.
In addition, the Russian Pension Fund has received 400,000 applications for spending the funds on children’s education and 3,400 applications for enlarging mothers’ funded pensions.
Another area of spending maternity capital, social adaptation and integration of children with disabilities, added to the three main options last year. Fifty-seven applications of the sort have been filed by now.
Almost 7.8 million families have received maternity capital certificates over ten years of the program. Some 56% families have fully used their funds.
Maternity capital stands at 453,026 rubles in 2017.
