Families with low income and children aged from 8 to 17 can apply for new benefits from May 1, 2022. The benefit will be paid for the period since April 1. A family that files an application after May 1 will receive the benefit for two months, both April and May, on condition that a child turned eight as of April.
The family income is an important qualification parameter. The benefit will be assigned to families with an average per capita income smaller than the subsistence minimum in their home region.
The amount of the new benefit also depends on the income: it may account to 50%, 75%, or 100% of the regional child subsistence minimum. The basic benefit is 50%, which is average 6,150 rubles in the country. If the family income is smaller than the subsistence minimum per member despite the payment of the benefit, the benefit will be raised to 75% of the regional child subsistence minimum. If the family income still falls short of the subsistence minimum, the family will receive the benefit in the amount of 100% of the regional child subsistence minimum.
Please note that, currently, only single parents are entitled to a benefit for children aged from eight to 17, and the size of this benefit stands at 50% of the regional child subsistence minimum.
