The Pension Fund has been assigning maternity capital in the pro-active mode, without applications being filed by parents, since mid-April 2020. More than 1.7 mln certificates have been issued for the first and second children in this format over the past two years.
Specialists issue an electronic certificate and send it to the parent’s account on the PFR website or on the public services portal. After that, it is possible to apply for spending the funds and control the balance via the account. Hence, a family can choose how to use maternity capital after the child is born without applying to a territorial office for a certificate.
Please note that the issuance of a maternity capital certificate and its assignment of funds for the chosen purpose became faster last year. The period of issuance has been reduced to five working days, and the period of capital assignment has dropped to ten working days.
