Last year, 1.2 million families received a one-time allowance for the birth of a child. The total amount of material support sent to parents exceeded 25 billion rubles. The payment, the amount of which since February last year has been 20.47 thousand rubles, was provided to mom or dad for each child who appeared in the family.
Birth allowance is due to all Russian families, regardless of income level and number of children. Both working and non-working parents can receive the payment.
Until 2023, the payment, depending on the parent's employment, was provided by either the Social Insurance Fund or the Pension Fund. Starting this year, funds are transferred centrally through the unified Social Fund of Russia. For a working parent, the allowance is assigned automatically based on the data of the registry office on the birth of a child. To apply for a payment, a non-working parent needs to submit an application to the client service of the Social Fund or a multifunctional center that provides such a service. The application is also accepted on the public services portal.
Under current rules, the allowance is also due to the guardian, adoptive parent or foster parent of the child.
