Over 93,000 Families from Russia's New Regions Received Maternity Capital Certificates

More than 93,000 families from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, have obtained maternity capital certificates both within the new constituent entities and in other regions of the country.

The Social Fund of Russia has issued maternity capital certificates to 40,600 families residing in the territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Specifically, 14,500 families received certificates in the Donetsk Republic, 14,500 in the Lugansk Republic, 8,300 in the Zaporozhye region, and 3,300 in the Kherson region.

Residents of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions may also apply for maternity capital certificates outside their home regions. More than 52,400 families have done so.

Maternity capital is a support measure for families with children, provided under the "Demography" national project. In the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, the program has been in effect since January 1, 2023. Parents may receive maternity capital for the birth of a second child starting from 2007, and for the birth of a first child starting from 2020.

The amount of maternity capital for a second child born before 2020 or a first child born after 2020 is RUB 587,000. If a family that previously received a certificate for their first child has a second child, the capital amount increases by RUB 188,700. For a second child born after 2020, the maternity capital totals RUB 775,600.

Funds may be used to improve housing conditions, pay for children's education, provide monthly payments for children under the age of 3, purchase goods and services aimed at the social adaptation and integration of children with disabilities, and contribute to the mother's funded pension.
