The Social Fund of Russia has assumed the responsibilities of the pension authorities of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) and the Kherson region. Since December 1, Social Fund branches have been providing regional pension payments to residents registered with local pension funds.
The transfer of authority is based on agreements signed by Fund Chairman Sergey Chirkov with LPR Prime Minister Sergey Kozlov and Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo.
"The Social Fund has extensive experience in processing and disbursing pensions. It is therefore logical that regional pension administration is now in the capacity of our specialists," Chirkov commented. "Fund branches will ensure timely and convenient disbursement of all regional pension payments, on a par with federal ones."
Client service offices of the Social Fund in the new regions have completed the necessary preparations to assume these responsibilities. Branches are operating normally and receiving citizens as usual. Fund specialists are processing and disbursing all applicable support measures according to schedule.
It should be noted that the Social Fund began paying federal pensions in the new constituent entities in March of this year, following the enactment of legislation integrating the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into Russia's pension system. Previously, pensions in these regions were paid by local pension authorities. In November, the Social Fund assumed the responsibilities of the pension funds of the Donetsk Republic and Zaporozhye region.
