The Social Fund Assigned a Unified Benefit to 2.7 Million Children and Over 44,000 Pregnant Women Since the Beginning of the Year

In 2024, the Social Fund of Russia assigned a unified benefit to 2.7 million children under 17 and 44,400 pregnant women.

As repeatedly emphasized by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, support for the population and fulfillment of social obligations to citizens remains an unconditional priority for the state. Over two decades, the coverage of Russian families by social support measures has increased tenfold. In the Year of the Family, efforts to support parents with children take on paramount importance.

The unified benefit has become a significant aid for families in need; since 2023, it has replaced several previously existing child and maternity payments. As a reminder, the unified benefit is available to children and parents who are citizens of the Russian Federation and permanently reside in the country. To ensure that funds reach those who truly need them, a comprehensive assessment of family income and property is applied during the process of applying for benefits, along with consideration of parental employment or valid reasons for its absence. The unified benefit is assigned for 12 months. After that, the application should be submitted to the Fund again.

The benefit amount for a child is 50%, 75%, or 100% of the regional subsistence minimum for children. For pregnant women who registered early with medical services, the benefit is calculated as 50%, 75%, or 100% of the regional subsistence minimum for the working-age population.

In 2024, the subsistence minimum increased, affecting the size of the unified benefit. On average across the country, the benefit rose by 500 to 1,000 rubles per month and now amounts to: for children – 7,500 to 15,000 rubles per month, for pregnant women – 8,400 to 16,800 rubles per month. At the same time, the family's right to benefits due to the increase in the subsistence minimum is re-evaluated due to changes, since the level of need is calculated on the day of application for this support measure and remains unchanged for the next 12 months for which it is established.

Digital services and tools are increasingly integrated into the daily lives of Russian citizens. The Social Fund assigns the unified benefit using a social treasury format, which means that individuals only need to submit an application via the State Services portal. All other data is verified by Fund specialists through the interdepartmental interaction system.
