The Social Fund Opened Its 800th Senior Communication Center

On July 30, the ceremonial opening of the 800th senior communication center of the Social Fund of Russia took place. The Center began operating on the premises of the client service office of the Social Fund's branch in the Lugansk People's Republic, becoming the fifth such institution in the republic.

"It is symbolic that the ceremonial opening of the 800th center took place in a region that recently rejoined Russia: in the Stanichno-Lugansk district of the Lugansk People’s Republic. Not long ago, hostilities were taking place nearby. And now peaceful life is being restored, symbolized by the new communication center. This is the fifth such project of the Social Fund on the territory of the Lugansk People's Republic," noted Sergey Chirkov, Chairman of the Social Fund of Russia.

The opening was attended by Anna Kulish, Deputy Head of the Municipal District Municipal Formation Stanichno-Lugansk Municipal District of the Lugansk People's Republic, Natalia Ushakova, Deputy Chair of the Council of the Stanichno-Lugansk Municipal District, and Grigory Atanov, Chair of the Veterans' Council of the Stanichno-Lugansk Municipal District.

"This is a significant event for our district. I am confident that the new communication center will become a true cultural hub, and I am confident that it will become a favorite meeting place for our active elderly residents, offering them a variety of interesting activities," said Anna Kulish at the opening.

"We are glad that the 800th Senior Communication Center of the Social Fund of Russia opened precisely in the Lugansk People's Republic. People of the ‘silver age’ not only participate in hobby clubs here, but also attend classes on computer, financial, and pension literacy, where they learn in an accessible format how to use the Social Fund's electronic services and the State Services portal," shared Deputy Head of the Social Fund's branch in the LPR Tatyana Semionova.

Since the opening of the first senior communication centers of the Social Fund, more than 1.23 million people have visited them. Since the beginning of this year, the network of communication centers has grown by one-third. If at the beginning of this year there were 555 centers operating, today their number has reached 800. The geographic presence is also expanding: 3 more regions have been added to the 82 where centers previously operated. Now Social Fund venues can be visited in all 8 federal districts of the country.

An important area of work has become the development of the center network in remote and socially significant territories, including the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions. Thus, on July 29, the 799th senior center opened in the Vasilyevsky district of the Zaporozhye region.

Since the beginning of the centers' operation in autumn 2022, more than 123,000 events have been held there, according to data provided by Sergey Chirkov, Chairman of the Social Fund of Russia.

The centers have welcomed 1.16 million guests. In just the first half of 2025, the Social Fund organized 40,000 events attended by 400,000 people.

Initially, the centers were created to organize meaningful leisure for the older generation and help people learn to use electronic services, as well as better navigate pension and social support issues.

"In practice, the functions of the centers are much broader," notes the head of the Social Fund. "Here, they provide computer and financial literacy training, consultations on fraud protection and personal finance management, organize tours, creative workshops, literary evenings, and other events to support a rich and active life for elderly people."
