On October 1, 2025, the International Day of Elderly Persons, the Social Fund of the Russian Federation and Znanie Society hosted an online stream on the Government Social Policy, focused on the elderly. About 15,000 people from all over the country joined the broadcast.
In his welcome address, Sergey Chirkov, Chairman of the Social Fund, congratulated everyone on this special day and reminded that communication centers are now functioning in 87 Russian regions, including historical ones. According to him, about 900 Social Fund's communication centers are functioning already, but their geography will keep expanding: a center in Donetsk People's Republic will open shortly.
Galina Karelova, First Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council Committee on the Federal Structure, Regional Policies, Local Government and Northern Affairs, also offered her congratulation to the broadcast audience, talking about the government's systemic effort to support the elderly and improve their quality of life. That included the new version of the Action Strategy to Further the Interests of Elderly Citizens that came into effect this April.
Another stream participant, Znanie Society speaker and founder of the AQ Institute, Valery Gut, advised the audience on how to perceive their age in a positive way and keep their approach to life proactive in the age of maturity.
