Over the last three years, the Communication Centers for Seniors project has truly become a nation-wide network that brought 'silver age' people together. Over 940 such centers opened, welcoming 1.5 million visitors. In the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, this project gains a particular importance. Head of the Social Fund, Sergey Chirkov, announced that at a meeting of the federal party project attended by Senator Galina Karelova.
"At the State Council meeting, the President declared 2025 the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, to honor the servicemen of the special military operation and the memory of the feats of our ancestors. In this context, the project concerning communication centers for seniors has become the very tool that embodies this connection in practice," said Sergey Chirkov, Chairman of the Social Fund of Russia.
In the year we celebrate 80 years of the Great Victory, the patriotic effort becomes key. This year alone saw over 6,400 events attended by more than 90,000 people. Some good examples are mass events like Cross-Country Nation in Volgograd Region, patriotic Important Conversations for school students in Penza Region and artistic talent fests like the Golden Autumn in Ulyanovsk Region.
The second, equally important area is comprehensive support for servicemen participating in the special military operation. In 2025, volunteers from the Social Fund's centers produced and sent to the frontlines 18,500 camouflage nets, 70,000 bunker candles, 88,700 dry shower kits, 149,000 pairs of socks, balaclavas, and thermal belts, as well as 49,500 tons of food packages.
"Today, communication centers for seniors are not just recreation clubs. They are centers of civic unity, where the life experience, patriotism, and energy of the elder generations are transformed into real action. Action that preserves our history for our children and help our soldiers on the frontlines," Mr. Chirkov emphasized.
Remember that earlier this year, Sergey Chirkov and Galina Karelova signed an agreement focused on active longevity and improving the quality of life for the elderly. The relevant goals are outlined in the Elderly Generation project of the United Russia Party, as well as in the Social Fund's project to create communication centers for silver age generations. Both initiatives are covered by the Family national project.
