Social Fund started accepting pension adjustment applications from mothers of five or more children

Starting today, applications can be submitted at all Social Fund client offices and on the Gosuslugi Portal. Mothers of large families will start receiving the higher pensions as early as the new year. For applications submitted in December, the pension adjustment will come into effect in January. The Social Fund budget for 2026, approved by a federal law and signed by the President, has the money required to increase the payments.

"Preliminary data suggests that today, children of over 410 thousand women in Russia were not previously factored in when assigning pensions. The changes coming into force in the new year clearly illustrate the growing significance the government places on women having children. In 2002, care for two children was counted toward the total work duration; in 2013, three children were included. In 2015, they started to factor four children in. Now, there is a decision to remove limitations on the number of children," said Sergey Chirkov, Chairman of the Social Fund of Russia.

Choose Pension Adjustment when submitting your application on the Gosuslugi Portal, then specify the type of pension to be adjusted: age-related or disability-related insurance pension. Choose Other Reasons as the reason for adjustment. Specify Childcare periods counted as work duration and list full names and birth dates of all children.

A mother can also attach her children's details to her application, such as birth certificate scans. The Fund will verify the information and send a request to clarify the provided data to the mother's personal account, if needed.

Remember that amendments to the law removing all restrictions on the number of children care for whom counts toward a pension come into force in 2026. Currently, a mother's work duration can include the care for four children at most; according to the new procedure, the fifth, sixth, and all subsequent children in the family will be factored in when applying for a pension. The mother will also get pension coefficients for them, on top of the work duration, provided she cared for each child for at least eighteen months: 2.7 coefficient for the 1st child, 5.4 for the 2nd and 8.1 for the third and subsequent children.

The specific feature of the new rules is that they apply not only to women who start retiring from 2026 onwards, but also to those who are already receiving pensions. The Social Fund made adjustment applications available beforehand specifically for them.
