The allowance was increased in January and is available to students of higher education institutions, organizations for additional vocational training, and scientific organizations.
Since September of last year, when the Social Fund took over assigning the allowance, it has been granted to 5,000 pregnant female students. Its amount is based on the subsistence rate for a working-age adult in the region. The allowance grew in January, and now averages more than RUB 96,000 across Russia. This amount is established for a standard maternity leave lasting up to 140 days. For a longer period, the allowance increases.
You can apply for the allowance through the Gosuslugi Portal, at the Social Fund's client offices, and at Multifunctional Centers. On top of an application, a certificate of pregnancy from a healthcare institution and a certificate from the educational institution confirming enrollment and specifying the maternity leave duration have to be provided in person.
The allowance is for female undergraduate and post-graduate students who study full time. It does not matter if education is paid for or tuition-free.
