The supplement is granted to retirees who have reached the age of 80, as well as to individuals of disability group I. In January, the supplement was adjusted along with pensions by 7.6%.
Following the adjustment at the start of the new year, 4.9 million retirees received the new supplement amount. For insurance pension recipients, the supplement grew to RUB 1,400/month. The adjusted amount was credited automatically; retirees did not need to apply to receive it.
The Social Fund has been proactively processing the care allowance as a pension supplement since last year. It is granted when an individual reaches the age of 80 or receives a group I disability status. Having a designated caregiver is no longer a mandatory condition. Thanks to this procedure, the number of supplement recipients has more than doubled; today, it has been granted to 5.1 million retirees. On top of insurance pensions, the supplement is also paid toward government pensions. For these recipients, the payout will be adjusted in April.
It is worth noting that caring for a senior is factored when assigning the caregiver's own pension. If the care time fell on periods starting from 2025, the caregiver needs to submit an application to the Social Fund to include them in their work duration. When the caregiver lives separately from the retiree they care for, a written confirmation from the care recipient or their legal representative proving that the care was actually provided has to be additionally to the Fund. Care periods prior to 2025 are factored into the pension automatically.
