Families increasingly funnel maternity capital into their children's education

In 2025, Russian families began using maternity capital for their children's education 25% more frequently. The Social Fund approved more than 575,000 relevant applications, a quarter more than in the previous year 2024.

Parents' interest to using maternity capital for education has been growing for years. While in 2024 the share of education allocations stood at 28%, in 2025 it increased to 34%. For many parents, quality education for their children is becoming a higher priority than even better housing.

Maternity capital makes it possible to finance their children's education in educational institutions of any level, including kindergartens and universities, as well as to get a second higher education.

Allocating funds for kindergarten and enrollment in preschool programs is possible immediately after the birth of the child for whom the certificate was issued. For primary and additional education programs, allocation is possible after the child reaches the age of three. In both cases, the funds can be used for any child in the family or for all of them simultaneously. The child shall be no older than 25 years old at the start of their education
