Last year, the Social Fund provided 1,400 victims of workplace incidents with specialized cars. The vehicles are outfitted with specialized control systems to fit each driver's needs.
"Vehicles with adapted controls are part of the comprehensive health, social and professional rehabilitation of the affected individuals," said Sergey Chirkov, Chairman of the Social Fund. "Such a car helps remove barriers to movement and restore mobility.
The gas, brake, and clutch controls are duplicated and mounted directly on the steering wheel. Manual controls make mobility easier for people with disabilities, giving them a chance to lead more proactive lives.
For seven years, the Social Fund compensates the owners for a portion of the costs related to vehicle maintenance, repairs and fuel. After that period expires, the car is replaced.
In addition to vehicles, the Social Fund provides the affected individuals with a lump sum and monthly allowances, resort treatment and healthcare, as well as rehabilitation products recommended by a medical and social assessment institution.
