As part of his working visit to the Chuvash Republic, the Chairman of the Social Fund of Russia, Sergey Chirkov, met the regional Governor, Oleg Nikolaev. Their negotiations resulted in the signing of a cooperation agreement that will outline their joint work across a wide range of social policy areas.
The document provides for expanding cooperation in order to ensure that the residents of Chuvashia have all necessary welfare measures available to them, including pensions and insurance payouts. Assistance for the special military operation servicemen and their family members will be a point of special focus under the new framework.
During the meeting, Sergey Chirkov praised the positive effect of transferring regional powers to the federal level. According to him, in recent years, a number of welfare measures have already come under the jurisdiction of the Social Fund, which has the required competencies and technical capabilities.
"The regional social pension supplement payments have been transferred to the Fund since starting this year. Other welfare measures are to follow. After merging the funds, we introduced common standards and payment timeframes, making the system more transparent and convenient for citizens. "Support from the regional authorities is extremely important to us in order to implement those plans successfully, and this agreement will become the foundation for that," said Sergey Chirkov.
On top of that, the parties discussed new social projects aimed at improving the quality of life for the elderly generation. Issues of socialization for elderly people and ensuring conditions for their active longevity in the republic were a point of special focus.
Governor Nikolaev pointed out that cooperation with the Social Fund is becoming more effective and thanked Mr. Chirkov for developing the partnership.
"We are working together on key areas of the social policy so that people truly feel the improvements we bring. We are doing this comprehensively and proactively, taking people's wishes into account. This is exactly what our President demands: for the government support to be transparent, fast and accessible. I am grateful to Mr. Chirkov for his visit. We are going to keep working together to make our welfare system transparent, accessible and effective," Oleg Nikolaev said.
The agreement provides not only for the joint handling of current issues, but also for joint events and the exchange of analytical and statistical information. Enforcing its provisions will also help improve the interagency cooperation, thus enhancing the quality and accessibility of pension and social security for the residents of the Chuvash Republic.
