In April, the Social Fund will begin transferring the annual May 9 payouts to participants and disabled veterans of the Great Patriotic War. Payments will be delivered to each veteran by banks and post offices under their own delivery schedules. As per the presidential decree, the payment amounts to RUB 10,000 and is provided to those directly involved in the combat operations in the course of the Great Patriotic War.
"Starting as early as April 3, veterans will begin receiving their payouts in an application-free format along with their pensions and other monthly allowances from the Social Fund. The annual Victory Day payout is granted to special categories of veterans, who are also guaranteed special pension benefits by the government," stated Sergey Chirkov, Chairman of the Social Fund of Russia.
As he further pointed out, neither the veterans themselves nor their families need to go anywhere or submit any applications to receive it: the payment will be remitted in an application-free format in April or May based on the data available to the Social Fund. All the preliminary work to verify the lists of recipients and fund the delivery companies has already been completed.
According to the decree on the annual payout, it is granted to veterans who were on active duty during the Great Patriotic War or sustained a disability as a result of a wound, concussion, trauma or illness suffered in combat zones. The payout is provided for participation in combat operations during the Great Patriotic War, performing special missions in military units of the active army and behind enemy lines or on foreign territory, as well as on certain other grounds.
As per the decree, the payout is granted not only to veterans in Russia but also to those residing in the Baltic states – former republics of the USSR: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
