Social Fund paid companies RUB 35 billion as compensation for occupational safety measures

Last year, Russian enterprises' spending on preventive measures grew by 30%, reaching nearly RUB 35 billion. In total, the Social Fund reimbursed more than 50,000 employers.

The largest portion of funds was traditionally funneled toward personal protective equipment for workers. Total expenditures in this area amounted to RUB 14.5 billion, with protective equipment purchased for 3.7 million workers.

Another RUB 6.5 billion was allocated for mandatory health check-ups, which were undergone by more than 2.4 million people over the course of the year. In addition, RUB 10.7 billion was spent on resort treatment for over 130,000 workers. Individuals employed in hazardous and dangerous industries, as well as people of pre-retirement age were among those who received resort services.

Special assessments of working conditions were conducted last year for 1.3 million workplaces, with spending in this area totaling RUB 1.2 billion.

Better funding for preventive measures has a direct impact on the number of occupational diseases and workplace injuries. Companies' occupational safety costs have been increasing over the years, and as a result, occupational safety level is improving. The trend continued last year, at the end of which the number of accidents and occupational diseases decreased by 1,300.

This year, the funding for preventive activities also grew. The total planned spending for these purposes stands currently at RUB 42.1 billion: RUB 6.3 billion more than what was provisioned for 2025. It is expected that 52,100 companies will receive support.

Concurrently, the Social Fund keeps simplifying the process for employers to receive compensations for preventive measures.

Since last year, it is sufficient to submit a single application instead of a package of documents to apply for preventive measures financing. After introducing all preventive measures or at least one of them, the employer applies to the Social Fund for cost reimbursement. If the documents submitted to support the amounts spent need to be corrected, they have 5 business days to do that.

Applying to the Social Fund has also become much more convenient, as an electronic service has been launched on the Gosuslugi Portal for exactly that purpose. It allows companies to apply for compensation online. Prior to that, applications were submitted through customer offices of the Social Fund or by mail. Today, up to 80% of companies use the new electronic tools to reimburse the cost of the measures they have implemented.

It should be noted that improving the occupational safety costs compensation procedure is aimed at creating a more flexible and accessible support system for employers, as well as reducing the risks of workplace injuries. The simplified financing process makes it possible to improve workplace safety and protect the health of even greater number of workers.
