Social Fund announced regions with the most twins and triplets born

The Social Fund of Russia analyzed data on multiple births for Q1, 2026 to assign payouts to families. Most frequently, twins were born in Moscow (416 twins), Moscow Region (254), and St. Petersburg (222). Krasnodar Territory (196) and Rostov Region (168) also made it to the top 5.

Triplet births were recorded in Ivanovo Region, Kirov Region and Moscow, as well as in Zaporozhye and Samara Regions.

A family with newborn twins receives extra benefits from the Social Fund. First and foremost, the mother is granted an increased maternity benefit, averaging RUB 418,300 instead of RUB 301,800, as is the case for the birth of a single child.

Mothers of twins are also assigned lump-sum childbirth payouts, which grew to grew to RUB 28,450 in February. Considering it is paid for each infant, the mother ultimately receives RUB 56,900.

Birth of twins also entitles the family to an increased maternity capital, which stands at more than RUB 963,000 as of now, available to families that have not previously held a certificate.

On top of that, the Social Fund uses childbirth certificates to cover healthcare services during and after birth, as well as routine checkups for twins until they reach 12 month.

Mothers are also eligible for other benefits from the Social Fund going forward, including the allowance for children up to 18 months, the unified allowance, as well as the annual family payout: a new type of benefit that allows working parents with two or more children to receive a refund on a portion of the taxes paid. The Social Fund will be providing the annual family payout as early as June.

Both parents can take parental leave for each child upon the birth of twins. Both the father and the mother are entitled to the monthly allowance for children up to 18 months. For each parent, it amounts to 40% of their average earnings for the two calendar years preceding the start of the parental leave. If only one parent goes on parental leave, they will receive the allowance for each child. In total, this amounts to 80% of their average income.

Today, millions of women in Russia receive benefits from the Social Fund. These benefits grow annually, many being part of national projects. The Fund not only increases the amounts it pays, but also strives to ensure that the benefits reach families at the right time and in a convenient format, without the need to apply for services.
