The Social Fund of Russia is turning four years old on July 14. Exactly 448,878 Russians celebrate their own birthdays on the date of the Fund's founding.
4,437 of them are the same age as the Fund, born on July 14, 2022, the day the federal law mandating the creation of the joint organization was signed. 42 have their initials (last name, first name, patronymic) match the 'SFR' acronym.
Some Russians also bear last names that call back to the essence of the Social Fund's purpose. 5,500 people's last names are associated with 'care' ('zabota'): the Zabotins, Zabotkins, Zabotnovs, etc. Over 200 citizens respond to names derived from 'capital': the Kapitalovs, Kapitaltsevs, Kapitalchuk, even Kapital. Over 7,000 women go by the name of Kapitalina in its various forms.
There are also the Pensionerovs (seven of them), two Strakhovoys ('insurance'), and even one Russian with the last name Sotsialny ('social').
It is also symbolic that the law establishing the foundation of the pension system, 'On State Pensions in the USSR' was adopted 70 years ago, on July 14, 1956. It provided for old age, disability and loss of breadwinner pensions. The document entitled multiple social groups to pensions: workers, military personnel, school and university students, employees of various professional organizations who had made trade union contributions.
Pensions were assigned not as they are today, based on the total lifetime earnings, but on the average earnings in the last year or in any unbroken five years period during the last 10 years of employment.
